Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over time, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
